July the 4th is on a Sunday this year, and we'll be hosting our annual Pancake Breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending right before the big Parade begins just down the street at the local Fire Station 95. The Parade begins at 11 a.m. and is followed by a water balloon toss with prizes, popcorn, and popsicles, donated by our local fire department. It's fun for the whole family and community! And it's time to celebrate again after a long pandemic has kept us from fun events!
Earning his Eagle Scout Badge, George Smith is working on a Prayer Garden
Plans to build a prayer garden on the south side of the church have been approved, and fundraising has begun. It will be a very big project that will be enjoyed for years to come. George states, "You may have noticed that the ivy has been turning brown, we've been taking steps to slow its growth, I've been pulling ivy away from around the redwood trees to get a better understanding of what the best way to remove ivy is. I'd also like to share that several people I did not have on my original list of potential supporters have reached out to me and indicated that they are interested in supporting my project. The purpose of the project is to bring the community together and I am already starting to feel that happen.
I have a generous $1000 donation from Walnut Grove Rotary. This week I finished up my FFA project and finishing finals this week. In April I received my final sign off from my troop leaders, who commented the project is a larger project than typically done. I have a list of people to see as soon as I am done with school to finalize their financial support." George is looking for help with these items: a trailer to haul away ivy, a bobcat to remove the ivy, and someone with expertise in installing an automatic irrigation system. Workdays will be scheduled soon. Landscaping plans shown below indicate the large area to be developed, Do you know any Eagle Scouts out there who would like to help a fellow Eagle Scout with this amazing badge? Or would you like to donate or help George with this project? You can send your donation to the church with a designation of funding to go to the "George Smith Eagle Scout Project," and the funds will be placed in a special account for materials. You can mail it in, or put it in the plate on Sunday! If you donate on line, be sure to make a note that the funds are for the George Smith Eagle Scout Project. We'll keep you posted on this project as it moves forward.
It was a GREAT time!
We Celebrated the end of the Pandemic and the lifting of restrictions with an Ice Cream Social as a gift to the community and a welcome back to those we haven't seen in a long time. Ice cream with lots of toppings was a hit! We played some games like cornhole toss, BIG Jenga and Kerplunk, Boom Ball and had activities for the little ones. Thanks to all who came out and joined us for the festivities. We hope to see you again soon!
Now Available at the Church! From Dave Ramsey Solutions, we have a Financial Coach available. Do you know someone hurting from financial issues who could use a guide through some rough financial problems? Please contact Lynn Ortega at (916) 717-4610 and leave her a voice mail, or contact the church for her information. Don't wait. Help is here!
We are hosting the MEN'S BREAKFAST again! We meet every 2ND SATURDAY of each MONTH
We welcome back our faithful men, and we hope to find a few more of you out there! Come on in and join us.
Join us Monday - Thursday on Facebook live for Time with God - a 30 minute time of worship, prayer, and devotion including reading of the day's lectionary passages, the Presbyterian confessions, and introductions to ancient prayer practices. Over the last few months, our daily prayers and devotions on Facebook have continued to evolve. We've now combined them into a single 30 minute daily-ish live cast. Unfortunately, due to the pastor's schedule, even this single broadcast has become a little hit and miss. With this in mind, we'd like to invite you to participate in leading these brief devotions both on the weekends (Friday-Sunday) and periodically during the week as substitutes for the pastor. Volunteers will be provided with detailed instructions for leading these times of fellowship - all you have to do is follow the script. If you are interested in assisting, please contact Pastor Anna at 208-206-0944. https://www.facebook.com/wgcommch/
From Pastor Anna:
I've been working my way through "On the Road with Saint Augustine" by James K.A. Smith. The volume was assigned for one of my continuing education courses and is a particularly interesting introduction to the Church Father who is responsible for much of modern Christian thought. (As one of my professors once said, "Modern American Christianity is either an affirmation of or a reaction against Augustine.) The writing is easily accessible to the average lay-reader and Smith does a wonderful job connecting the spiritual journeys of "normal" Westerners with the experience of Augustine. You may discover you have more in common with this respected leader of the Church than you'd thought!

Dear Family and Friends of Walnut Grove Community Church,
Praise God! We've reached our goal of raising $30,000! We deeply thank our wonderful members, community and friends for the financial help! As you know, because of the COVID-19 pandemic our doors were closed for more than a year, and we faced a budget deficit of approximately $30,000. This is in part because of receiving only 60 percent of our annual proposed budget. And, while we are thrilled to have a new full time Pastor on board to lead us, there is a rise in salary cost.
In our "Share the Harvest" campaign, we are asking every family to consider a one-time donation of $500 to sustain us until we could reopen our doors and get back on track. We understand that some families are struggling, and may only be able to give a little, while others may be able to help us with more.
Please prayerfully consider continuing to help, and God will lead the way! We trust Him in all matters, especially the support of His Body of believers.
We honored our local heroes with a special night of food and fellowship to thank them for serving our community!
Volunteer Fire Fighters serve our local community, and respond when the big bell on the bridge rings out for emergency.
We celebrate the Advent and Christmas Season with song, spirit and fellowship. It's a magical night with celebration with the whole community at 7 p.m. followed by hospitality in Koinonia Hall with fresh baked goods, snacks and beverages to share with our big church family.
Every year there's a Pancake Breakfast at the church right before the big 4th of July Parade of Fire Trucks and Floats created by the local residents that begins at 10 a.m. in front of the Fire Station 95, on Walnut Avenue, just down from the church. It's a fun, family event that brings many to our local town to celebrate. Join us this year!
If customers can’t find it, it doesn’t exist. Clearly list and describe the services you offer. Also, be sure to showcase a premium service.
We missed everyone this Easter because of the Pandemic, but we celebrated while sheltering at home, and the cross reminded us to Rejoice! For, He has Risen!
